GUICELAND, TEXAS.

Guiceland, a farming community just off U. S. Highway 287 and State Highway 19 and four miles north of Grapeland in extreme northern Houston County, was established before 1900.

In the mid-1930s the community had two churches, a cemetery, and a number of houses; local children attended school in Grapeland. After World War IIqv many of Guiceland's residents moved away, and by the mid-1960s only a church, a cemetery, and a few widely scattered houses remained in the area. In the early 1990s Guiceland was a dispersed rural community.
