Mrs. Oma Etheredge

Mrs. Oma Etheredge, 80, of Rt. 1, Lovelady, died Monday in Trinity Memorial
Hospital.

Mrs. Etheredge was born April 1, 1891, in Houston County. She was a member
of the Antioch Baptist Church and of Weldon Chapter no. 969, Order of the
Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday inthe Antioch Baptist Church,
with Rev. J. J. Chastene of Cleveland officiating. Burial was in the
Antioch Cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by the Weldon chapter of
the Eastern Star.

Nephews served as pallbearers.

Survivors include the husband, James Chester Etheredge of Lovelady; two
sons, B. E. Etheredge of Lovelady and J. C. Etheredge of Pasadena; a
brother, Guy Middleton of Weldon; three sisters, Mrs. Daisy Anderson of
Weldon, Mrs. Della Daniels of Crockett and Mrs. Stella Sump of Giddings;
four greandchildren; and five great grandchildren.

John Ruben Etheredge Jr.

Mr. John Ruben Etheredge Jr., 18, of Weldon, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23,
due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident in Trinity.

Mr. Etheredge, a member of the Church of Christ, was employed by the
Ventura Mobile Homes of Duncanville.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Church of Christ
in Weldon, with mr. Harry Conner officiating. Interment followed in the
Antioch Cemetery

Survivors include the patents, Mr. and Mrs. John R. Etheredge Sr.; a
brother, Michael Wayne Etheredge; and a sister, Miss Barbara Jo Etheredge,
all of Weldon.

Mrs. Mozelle C. Etheredge

Funeral services for Mrs. Mozelle C. Etheredge, 61, were held at 3 p.m.
Sunday in the Antioch Baptist Church west of Lovelady.

Rev. R. J. Marshall officiated. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery.

Mrs. Etheredge, a resident of Lovelady, died in a Houston hospital Nov. 8.
She was born Aug. 4, 1913 in Houston County and was a member of the Antioch
Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, B. E. Etheredge of Lovelady; two sons, Tom
Etheredge of Houston and Bob Etheredge of Palestine.

Also six sisters, Mrs. Voleain Pearson and Mrs. Eunice Graham, both of
Weldon, Mrs. Johnnie Adams, Mrs. Mary West, and Mrs. Joyce Pait, all of
Willis, and Mrs. Jeffy Warren of Houston; eight grandchildren, and her
father-in-law J. C. Etheredge of Crockett.

Mrs. Susie Lee Etheredge

Funeral services for Mrs. Susie Lee Etheredge, 60, were held at 1 p.m.
Saturday in the Waller Family Chapel.

Rev. Bruce James Officiated. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery.

Mrs. Etheredge, a resident of Garland, died March 5 in Dallas. She was born
Oct 2, 1904 in Houston County and had livd most of her life here. She was a
nurse and a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son. John Etheredge of Lovelady; two daughters, Mrs.
Sara Huggett and Mrs. Geraldine Guinn, both of Garland; six brothers, five
sisters, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Jeff Edward Evans

Mr. Jeff Edward Evans, 67, of Crockett, died early Monday morning in a
local hospital. Mr. Evans, a lifelong resident of Houston County, was a
retired lumber grader. He was a member of the Central Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Waller Funeral Home
Chapel with Rev. Jack Edwards officiating. Burial was in the Porter Springs
Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, George Thomas Evans of Crockett and J. C. Evans
of Houston; two daughters, Mr. Joyce Fain and Miss Jane Evans, both of
Miracle Valley, Ariz.; three brothers, Henry Evans of Crockett, Bud Evans
of Kennard and Frank Evans of Luling, La.; three sisters. Mrs. Ida Ellisor
of Crockett, Mrs. Jane Blue of Bossier City, la., and Mrs. Irene Austin of
Luling, La.; and 11 grandchildren.

Mrs. Fannie Evans

Mrs. Fannie Evans, 83, of Diboll, died Sunday afternoon, at Alvin Gulfcoast
Hospital after a short illness.

Mrs. Evans was born Aug. 30, 1885, in Houston County, and had lived here a
number of years before moving to Diboll. She was a member of the First
Baptist Church of Diboll.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday inthe Callaway Memorial
Chapel, with Rev. Clayton McClendon officiating. Burial was in the Conner
Cemetery near Ratcliff.

Pallbearers were J. W. Starling, Brandon Mock, M. O. Riley, Carry Carr,
Charles Holcomb and Phillip Snow.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Mae Regan of Nineveh, Mrs. Thelma
Snow of Willis and Mrs. Jessie Riley of Pearland; three sons, Billy Evans
of Apple Springs, Henry Evans of Diboll and Palmer Evans of Wells; two
half-sisters, Mrs. Paralee Holcomb of Port Neches, and Mrs. Evan McClung of
Diboll; a half-brother, Sam Walling of Diboll; eight grandchildren; and 13
great grandchildren.

Mr. Robert Clyde Evans, 61, of Houston, died in that city Thursday.

Graveside funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Friday in the Antioch
Cemetery.

two brothers; and two sisters.

Bud Evans

Funeral services for Bud Evans, 73, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the
Waller Family Chapel.

Rev. Jack Edwards officiated. Burial was in the Porter Springs Cemetery.

Mr. Evans, a resident of Kennard, died Saturday in St. Mary's Hospital in
Port Arthur. He was born March 7, 1901 in Houston County and had lived here
all his lie. He was a retired logger and member of the Calvary Baptist
Church.

Survivors include two sons, Willis Evans Jr., of South Houston, and Robert
L. Evans of Port Arthur, a brother, Henry Evans of Crockett; two sisters,
Mrs. Jane Blue of Bossier City, La., and Mrs. Irene Alston of Luling; seven
grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Mrs. Margaret Emaline Eversol

Mrs. Margaret Emaline Eversol, 94, of Rt. 1, Grapeland, died Monday (May
27) at 7 a.m. in a Grapeland hospital following a long illness.

Final rites were held in Bartlesville, Okla., where burial was in the White
Rose Cemetery.

Mrs. Eversol was born February 27, 1874, in St. Paul, Ark., to the late
Henry Clay Scott and Mrs. Caldonia Dennis Scott, and had been a resident of
Grapeland for 4 1/2 years.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. E. L. Clapp of Grapeland, Mrs. E.
A. Dennis of Houston, and Mrs. Mildred Hartsock of Bartlesville, Okla.; a
brother, W. C. Scott of Ala.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Cutting of Oklahoma;
eight grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren.

Wiley James Ezell

Mr. Wiley James Ezell, 83, of Houston, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 20, in
Houston.

Mr. Ezell was born in Leon County September 28, 1886, but had lived in
Houston for a number of years. He was a veteran of World War I, and a
member of the Baptist Church.

Graveside funeral services were held at 3:30p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, in the
McCarter Cemetery, with Rev. Noble Lawrence, Baptist minister of Crockett,
officiating.

Survivors include a son, Lee Roy Ezell of Humble, and a daughter, Mrs.
Myrtle Hobson of Houston.

William Noble Ezell

Mr. William Noble Ezell, 69, of Conroe, passed away Friday, Jan. 26, in
Conroe.

Mr. Ezell was a former resident of Houston County.

Funeral services were held Monday, with Rev. Cliff Herrington officiating.
Graveside funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. at the Cedar Point
Cemetery.

Survivors include a stepson, Clinton Cox of Fort Sill, Okla.; two
stepdaughters, Mrs. Sybil Payne of Broaddus and Mrs. Sophia Pearl Whitaker;
two sisters, Mrs. Dolph Zachary of Huntsville and Mrs. J. W. Pentecost of
Buna.

Joseph Anthony Fadell

Mr. Joseph Anthony Fadell, 75, of Lake Worth, died Thursday, Oct. 7, in a
hospital.

Fadell, a Ft. Worth resident since 1920, was the brother of Mrs. Hazel
Younas and Mrs. Stella Stewart of Crockett, and of Charles Fadell of
Huntsville.

He was president and a principal stockholder in Merchants Fast Motor Lines,
Inc., until 1944.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Huntsville, with burial
there.

William Bufford Fain

Mr. William Bufford Fain, 61, of Houston, died in that city Monday, April
29.

Mr. Fain was born in Crockett April 26, 1907, and had lived here before
moving to Houston. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Graveside in the Center
Hill Cemetery, with Rev. A.B. English officiating.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. William B. Fain of Houston; a daughter,
Mrs. Trudy D. Fain Crisp of Humble; a son. T/Sgt. Wm. D. Fain of USAF in
Wichita, Kansas; three sisters, Mrs. Nellie Jacob of Baltimore and Mrs.
Minnie Allbright and Mrs. Effie Bernard, both of St. Louis; a brother, W.
H. Boyd of St. Louis; two granddaughters, Patricia and Kathy Failn both of
Wichita.

Mr. Elmer Edward Fannin, 57, of Crockett, died at his residence Sunday
morngin.

Mr. Fannin was a lifelong resident of Houston County, and a member of the
Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Pennington Baptist
Church, with Rev. Leroy Smith officiating. Burial was in the Pennington
Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Gladys Fannin of Crockett; his father,
Thomas Fannin of Crockett; eight sons, Thomas Fannin of Groveton, James
Fannin of Hardin, Charlie Fannin of the U.S. Army in Germany, Jesse, Billy,
Bobby and Ronnie Fannin, all of Rusk, and Michey Guyton of Crockett; seven
daughters, Miss Della Mae Fannin of Rusk, Miss Linda McKinney, Mrs. Lois
Allbright and Mrs. Pearl Fannin, all of Crockett, Mrs. Elwood Drinkard of
Pennington, Mrs. Lorine Gobert, of Beaumont and Mrs. Beulah Speck, both of
Houston; seven grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Delmer E. Fannin, 68, of Kemah, passed away Wednesday, March 15, in
Kemah.

Mr. Fannin was a former resident of Crockett, and had resided in Kemah for
the past several years. He was a member of the Methodist Church.

Graveside services were held at 3:30 p.m. Friday in the Shady Grove
Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Gladys Fannin of Kamah; three daughters,
Mrs. Christine Striker of Houston, Mrs. June Dement of Kemah and Mrs. Martha
Laughlin of Jackson, Miss.; 15 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Cora Belle Farek, 50, of Bellaire, died Friday in a Bellaire hospital.

Mrs. Farek was born April 15, 1919, in Houston County. She was a member of
the First Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Callaway Memorial
Chapel, with Rev. E. P. Ramsey of the First Baptist Church officiating.

Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Park.

Phillip Hurtt and Billy Hurtt.

Survivors include the husband, Charlie Farek of Bellaire; three sons, Dann

Mrs. Anna Pearl Farmer

Funeral services for Mrs. Anna Pearl Farmer, 64, of Route 1, Grapeland,
were held Thursday April 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church,
Grapeland, with the Rev. Kennith Mobley officiating. Burial was in the
Guiceland Cemetery, Salmon, under the direction of Hassell & Foster.

Pallbearers were Lew Harpold, Wendell Caskey, Ned Newman, Jay Collins,
Bill Collins and H. G. Jeffus.

Native and lifelong resident of Grapeland, Mrs. Farmer was born on November
21, 1909 to the late J. M. Collins and Florence Lewis Collins, and she died
Wednesday, April 24, at 6:00 a.m. in a Palestine hospital following a
sudden illness. She was a Baptist, she worked as a Licensed Vocational
Nurse for many years, and she was preceded in death by her husband, Dr.
Robert Allen Farmer, on December 26, 1950.

Survivors; a son, Michael A. Sanchez of Route 2, Elkhart; a daughter, Mrs.
L. W. (Dolores) Harold of Houston; two sisters, Mrs. W. O. (Dimple)
Collins of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, and Mrs. Claude (Myrtle) Swann of
Elkhart; 6 grandchildren; 1 niece, and 1 nephew.

Miss Morie Mae Farris

Miss Morie Mae Farris, 87, died in a Palestine hospital at 11:45 a.m.
Sunday, March 3.

Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Monday, in Bailey Memorial Chapel, with
the Rev. Billy Bonner officiating. Burial was in Grapeland City Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Stanley Walton, Dosh Walton, Jim Brooks, Dr. John Kennedy,
Ira Rials and Bobby Hallmark.

Miss Farris was born September 24, 1886 in Macon, Georgia to Charles and
Alice Howard Farris. She had lived in Grapeland for many years wherre she
was a member of Grapeland Methodist Church and had been a resident of
Palestine for the past twenty years.

Robert Ernest Farrow

Mr. Robert Ernest Farrow, 85, of Crockett died Wednesday, March 15, at the
residence of his sister.

Mr. Farrow was a resident of Houston County for 10 years. He was a member
of the Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Waller Chapel, with
Rev. E. P. Ramsey officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Lemma Greb of Crockett and Mrs. B. N.
Martin of Houston; also several nieces and nephews.

Lee Roy Faver

Mr. Lee Roy Faver, 59, of Crockett, died Sunday morning, May 22, in a
Crockett hospital.

Mr. Faver was a teacher of vocational agriculture in Crockett High School
for a number of years and had lived in Houston County for the last 41
years. He was a member of the First Christian Church and a member of the
church board, and also a member of the Crockett Masonic Lodge.

Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Monday from the Waller Chapel, with
the Reverands William Parker and Ed Mace officiating. Burial was in
Evergreen Memorial Park.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Bessie Faver of Crockett; a son, William
Paul Faver of Houston; two brothers, Elwood Faver of Apple Springs and L.
P. Faver of Crockett; a sister; Mrs. N. E. Daniel of Chita.

Glen Faver

Mr. Glen Faver, 60, of Jasper, died in Waco Sunday, Sept, 6.

Mr. Faver was an attorney and a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army.

Graveside funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, in the
Ivie Cemetery, with Rev. Billy Eaves officiating.

Survivors include a daughter, Rachel Faver of Jasper; two brothers, Don
Faver of Palestine and Ralph Faver of Houston; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd Johnson
of Huntington.

Mrs. T. R. Fellers

Mrs. T. R. Fellers died January 25 in St. Mary's hospital in Port Arthur.
She became critically ill while visiting her sister, Mrs. W. B. Childress
of Crockett. After emergency treatment at a local hospital she was
transferred to the hospital in Port Arthur.

Her illness was diagnosed as a blood clot on her lung caused by a heart
attack.

Burial was in the Greenlawn Memorial Park, January 26.

Mrs. Fellers is survived by her husand; a son, Jimmie; daughter, Mrs. Harry
Hebert; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. W. B. Childress of Crockett; two
brothers, Ernest Newlin of Sinton, and Wesley Newlin of Port Lavaco.

Mrs. Ferguson Passes Away

Ruth Mae Ferguson

Mrs. Ruth Mae Ferguson of Crockett passed away Monday night in a local
hospital after an extended illness. Mrs. Ferguson, age 65, was born on
October 2, 1889, and was a life-long resident of Crockett, and Houston
County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Crockett.

Survivors are the husband, Mr. J. A. Ferguson of Crockett; three daughters,
Mrs. Max Petty and Mrs. Milton Lowe of Crockett and Mrs. Kenneth Gant of
Fort Worth; a son, James Ferguson of Weches, and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ferguson were held at 10 o'clock Wednesday
morning in the First Baptist Church of Crockett, with Rev. M. O. Davis and
Rev. Charles W. McKamy officiating. Interment was in the Glenwood cemetery.

Mrs. Mattie Fay Ferguson

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Mattie Fay Ferguson,
37, at the First Christian church. Mrs. Ferguson, an employee of the
Houston County Telephone Company, died Sunday in a Galveston hospital
following a long illness. She was born here Oct 27, 1922 and was a member
of the Christian church.

Rev. Alton Davis officiated at the services and burial was in Murdock
cemetery.

Pallbearers were John R. Shaver, Michael Shaver, George W. Shaver, Horace
Jackson, J. R. Wells, Wilburn Smith and Earl Lock.

Survivors include her husband, Jack Ferguson of Grapeland; one sister, Mrs.
Iva Louise Kyle of Roanoak; one brother, G. L. Shaver of Baytown.

Funeral services for Jack Ferguson, 45, of Grapeland, were held Monday,
Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. in the First Christian Church, Grapeland with Calvin
Dickey officiating. Burial was in the Murdock Cemetery, Grapeland.

Pallbearers: Hubert Brimberry, Lem Langham, Grady Edge, Russell Skidmore,
Wilson Green.

Mr. Ferguson was born in Grapeland on Sept. 30, 1922, and was a son of the
late Ruben C. Gerguson and Mrs. Lora Oliver Ferguson. He was a veteran of
World War II, and formerly engaged in oil field work. member of the First
Christian Church, Grapeland, he died Saturday at 1:40 a.m. in Austin
following a long illness.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Lunda Gail Provence of Fort Worth; five
brothers; Roy E. Ferguson of Texarkana, Arkansas, Seth Ferguson of San
Autoinio, Milton Ferguson of Palestine, Jim Ferguson of Mt. Bellvue, Texas,
and Ted Ferguson of Colton California; a sister, Mrs. Sam Diehl of High
lands.

Mrs. Laura Ferguson, 94, of Grapeland, died Thursday, Sept. 15, in Sunset
Care Center of Jacksonville.

Mrs. Ferguson was born in Houston County Sept. 27, 1871. She was a member
of the Christian church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday from the tabernacle at the
Denson Cemetery, with mr. Calvin Dickey officiating. Burial was in the
Denson Cemetery, east of Grapeland.

Pallbearers were Boyd Whitaker, Troy Whitaker, Bill Whitaker, Durwood
Chapman, C. A. Chapman and Ronnie Worley.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. M. L. Whitaker of Grapeland; six
grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Gracie Ferguson

Funeral services for Mrs. Gracie Ferguson, 73, of Crockett, were held
Monday, June 18, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Grapeland, with
the Rev. Roy Blackman officiating. Burial was in the Davis Cemetery under
the direction of Hassell & Foster.

Pallbearers were: E.W. Roark, Joe Harrell Roark, Robert Toark, Lloyd Roark,
Billy Joe Bennett and Glynn Baker.

Mrs. Ferguson was born December 29, 1899 in Houston County to the late
Eugene Fowler and Mrs. Ida Grounds Fowler, and she died Sunday June 17, at
3:05 p.m. in a Crockett hospital following a long illness. She was a member
of the Dodge Baptist Church, and lived in Houston County before moving to
Dodge in 1955. For the past three years, she had been in a Crockett nursing
home.

Survivors: husband, Chester Ferguson; a son, Dwayne Ferguson, Crockett;
five brothers, L. Fowler, Albert Fowler, Pete Fowler and Dick Fowler, all
of Dodge, and Bob Fowler of Houston; four sisters, Mrs. Ralph (Ruth) Neel,
Mrs. Mac (Leona) Maxwell, Mrs. Ivy (Lottie) Macmillian and Mrs. Elbert
(Lola) Elliot, all of Dodge; two grandchildren, William Keith Ferguson, and
Cynthia Ann Ferguson, both of Crockett.

Mrs. Reed W. Ferguson

Mrs. Reed W. Ferguson, 53, of 208 S. Tenth St., Crockett, died early
Thursday morning in a local hospital.

Mrs. Ferguson had resided in Houston County for the past 34 years. She was a
member of the Methodist Church, and also of the Pilot Club.

Survivors include her husband, Reed Ferguson, Sr. of Crockett; four sons,
Reed W. Ferguson, Jr. and Rex C. Ferguson, Sr., both of Richardson, David
Paul Ferguson and Dan W. Ferguson, both of Crockett; and four
grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Reed W. Ferguson were held Friday, Feb. 14, at 4
p.m. in the First Methodist Church, with Rev. L. B. Broach and Rev. E. P.
Ramsey officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen, Cemetery.
