Walter Ellis

Mr. Walter Ellis 31, of 418 Anson Jones, Crockett, died suddenly at his
home Monday afternoon, Dec. 17.

Mr. Ellis was born in Houston County on Jan. 29, 1932, and had lived here
his entire lifetime.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Callaway Memorial
Chapel, with Rev. J. H. Mitchell officiating. Interment was in the Jim
English Cemetery.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Walter Ellis of Crockett; three daughters,
Mrs. Marcia Lynn Davenport, Mrs. Debra Louise Davenport, and Mrs. Betty
Gwynn Stewart, all of Crockett; a son, Alton Ray Ellis of Crockett; his
mother, Mrs. Mary Bell Ellis of Crockett; five sisters, Mrs. Lorraine Rhone
and Mrs. Hazel Martin, both of Houston, Mrs. Ruth Whitehead of Grapeland
and Mrs. Laverne Ball and Mrs. Clar Hearn, both of Crockett; four brothers,
Hollis , J. L., Lennie and Lacey Ellis, all of Crockett; also two grand
children.

Jack Ellis

Mr. Jack Ellis, 44, of Crockett, died early Saturday morning in a local
hospital.

Mr. Ellis was a lifelong resident of Houston County, and a member of the
Calvary Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Crockett Volunteer Fire
Department.

Funeral services were held in the Calvary Baptist Church at 2:30 p.m.
Sunday, with the Rev. Glen Stovall officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen
memorial Park.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. L. D. Ellis of Crockett; the widow, Mrs.
Mary F. Ellis of Crockett; two sons Delma Lee and Loyal D. Ellis, both of
Crockett; a daughter, Thelma L. Ellis of Crockett; two brothers, Elbert and
W. A. Ellis, both of Crocket; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Sexton and Mrs.
Jewel Barnhill, both of Crockett; four nephews, W. A. Jr., Cotton and Toby
Ellis and Billy Sexton, all of Houston; and a niece, Mrs. Nell Frizzell of
Crockett.

Mrs. Mary Ellis

Mrs. Mary Ellis, 47, of 1109 E. Bowie, Crockett, passed away Tuesday
morning in a local hospital.

Mrs. Ellis, a bookkeeper for the auction sale for 23 years, was a lifetime
resident of Crockett. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and
also of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 509.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Calvary Baptist
Church, with Rev. E. D. Sarratt and Rev. A. D. Stuckey officiating.
Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Survivors include the husband, Elbert Lee Ellis of Crockett; her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Walker of Ratcliff; a brother, J. M. Walker of Ratcliff;
a sister, Mrs. J. C. Jones of Jacksonville; two nephews and four nieces.

Mrs. Eliza Ellis

Mrs. Eliza Ellis, 72, of Crockett, died Monday, May 10, in a Houston
nursing home.

Mrs. Ellis was born July 3, 1898, in Anderson County, but had lived in
Crockett since 1916. She was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Callaway Memorial
Chapel, with Rev. H. J. Rhodes of the First Methodist Church officiating.
Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Sam Ellis Jr., Edward Shirley, David Ellis, Tim Ellis,
Mark Wllis, and James C. Ellis, Jr.

Survivors include the husband, Will L. Ellis of Crockett; a daughter, Mrs.
Alta Ellis Shirley of San Antonio; two sons, Jerry Ellis of Houston and
Charles Ellis of Pine Bluff, Ark.; four sisters, Mrs. Sammy Lawrence of
Houston, Mrs. Ethel Sheridan of Elkhart, Mrs. Iva Dickey of Abilene and
Mrs. Clarice Hunter of Palestine; six grandsons; and two granddaughters.

Will L. Ellis

Mr. Will L. Ellis, 80 of 400 West Goliad, Crockett, passed away Monday
night, June 21, in Houston.

Mr. Ellis was born in Houston County on Aug. 6, 1890, and had lived here
for his entire lifetime. He was a member of the First United Methodist
Church of Crockett. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of
Brailsford-English Post No. 134, American Legion.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Callaway Memorial
Chapel, with Rev. H. J. Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen
Memorial Park in Crockett.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Alta Ellis Shirley of San Antonio; two
sons, Jerry Ellis of Houston and Charles Ellis of Pine Bluff, Ark; a
brother Gerald Ellis of Crockett; two sisters, Mrs. Mae Ellis Hanson of
Crockett and Mrs. Cozy Ellis Tomme of Raymondville; six grandchildren; and
two great grandchildren.

Mrs. Emily Ellis

Mrs. Emily Ellis, 93, of Crockett, died Friday afternoon in a local
hospital.

Mrs. Ellis was born in Madison County on June 24, 1878, but had lived in
Crockett for the greater part of her lifetime. She was a member of the
Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Callaway Memorial
Chapel, with rev. Ed Heming, pastor of the First Christian Church of
Crockett, officiating. Interment was in the Evergreen Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Rex Ellis, Bobby Lynn Ellis, Buddy Ray Ellis, Sonny
Hollis, Reginald Driskell and Clive Dickey.

William Albert Ellis Sr.

Mr. William Albert Ellis, Sr., 67, of 231 Sallas Ave., Crockett, passed
away Friday, Dec. 17, in a local hospital.

Mr. Ellis was a lifetime resident of Crockett and Houston County. He was a
member of the Central Baptist Church, and of Lothrop Lodge No. 21, AF & AM.

Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in the Waller Chapel, with
Rev. Allie Woodard officiating. Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery, under
the auspices of Lothrop Masonic Lodge No. 21,

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Annie Mae Ellis of Crockett; three sons,
William Albert Ellis Jr., of Crockett and James E. and Charles Kennedy
Ellis, both of Houston; a daughter, Mrs. Grover Frizzel of Crockett; a
stepmother, Mrs. Lutissue Ellis of Crockett; a brother, Elbert Ellis of
Crockett; three sisters, Mrs. Jewel Barnhill and Mrs. Evelyn Sexton, both
of Crockett, and Mrs. Mae Fields of Humble; 10 grandchildren; six great
grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Joseph Gerald Ellis

Mr. Joseph Gerald Ellis, 80, of Crockett, died Tuesday night, April 25, in
the Houston County Hospital.

Mr. Ellis was born in Houston County on April 16, 1892, and had lived here
for his entire lifetime. A veteran of World War I, he was a member of
Brailsford-English Post No. 134, American Legion, of Crockett. He was a
member of the Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Callaway Memorial
chapel, with Rev. H. J. Rhodes and Rev. A. S. Higginbotham officiating.
Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Kelley Jenson, J. A. Ellis, Raymond Ellis, Jerry Ellis,
Bob Ellis and Earl M. Tomme.

Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Mae Ellis Hanson of Crockett and Mrs.
Cozy Ellis Tomme of Raymondville, and several nieces and nephews.

Rites Held For Mrs. Ellisor, 85

Mrs. Eunice Ann Ellisor

Funeral services for Mrs. Eunice Ann Ellisor, 85, of Grapeland were held
Sunday, March 23, at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Grapeland, with
the Rev. Charles Baley and Calvin Dickey officiating. Burial was in the
Parker Cemetery, near Grapeland.

Pallbearers were Oran Gentry, Mike Moran, Truman Starr, John Edward
Ellisor, Mike Ellisor, Donald Wayne Ellisor, Nolan Tucker and Billy Calame.

Native and lifelong resident of Grapeland, Mrs. Ellisor was born April 9,
1883 to the late Dock Clark and Mrs. Theodocia Chaffin Clark, and she died
Saturday at 3:45 a.m. in a Palestine nursing home following a long illness,
She was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, and the widow of John
Ellisor, who died Septemver 24, 1962. Brady Ellisor of Tyler, Otha Ellisor
of Dallas and Luther Ellisor of Tuleta; five daughters, Mrs. Cris (Kate)
Wright, and Mrs. Dick (Carty) Keen, both of Grapeland, Mrs. Mellie Parker,
Mrs. Jack (Luna) Parker, and Mrs. C. J. (Allene) Moran, Jr., all of
Elkhart; a brother, Dewey Clark of Palestine; three sisters, Mrs. Fanny
Carte and Mrs. Rena Bozeman both of Elkhart, and Mrs. Riley Beeson of
Grapeland; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 7 great great
grandchildren.

Arrangements were by Hassell and Foster.

John William Ellisor

Funeral services for Mr. John William Ellisor, 92, of Toute 1, Greapelnad,
were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 25, in the First Baptist Church,
Grapeland. Rev. Bland Kerby and Calvin Dickey officiated, and burial was in
the Parker Cemetery, west of Grapeland.

Pallbearers were John E. Ellisor, Oran Gentry, Thomas Ingram, Guy Manville,
Billy Calame, and Nolan Tucker.

Mr. Ellisor died following a short illness at 1:15 a.m. Monday, Sept 24, in
a Crockett hospital. A lifelong resident of Houston County he was born on
Jan. 30, 1870. Mr. Ellisor was a retired farmer and a member of the Oak
Grove Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Eunice Ellisor of Grapeland; three sons, Brady
Ellisor of Grapelnd, Otha Ellisor of Waco, Luther Ellisor of Pettus; five
daughtrers, Mrs. Kate Wright and Mrs. Mellie Parker, Mrs. Luna Parker and
Mrs. Allene Morgan, all of Elkhart; 16 grandchildren; 13 great
grandchildren; one great great grandchild.

Mr. Walter J. (Son) Ellisor Jr., 50, of Crockett, passed away Saturday
morning, May 15, in a local hospital.

Mr. Ellisor served with the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was a member of
the Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Waller Chapel, with Rev.
E. P. Ramsey officiating. Interment was in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Mae Ellisor of Crockett; his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Walter Ellisor Sr., of Crockett; five sisters, Mrs. M. B. Moffitt,
Mrs. Jessie Woolley, Mrs. Claude Woolley, Mrs. R. D. McCelvey and Mrs.
Nollie Woolley, all of Crockett; also several nices and nephews.

Mrs. Walter E. Ellisor Sr., 90, of Rt. 1, Crockett, passed away Wednesday,
April 5, in a local nursing home.

the Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Waller Chapel, with Rev.
W. H. Collins and Rev. R. J. Marshall officiating. Interment was in the
Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include the husband, Mrs. Walter E. Ellisor Sr. of Crockett; five

Mrs. Callie Ellisor, 88, of 131 Traci Lane, Channelview, passed away
Friday, Jan 12, in Channelview.

Mrs. Ellisor was born Feb. 19, 1884, in Houston County and had lived here
most of her lifetime. She had made her home in Channelview for the past two
years. Mrs. Ellisor was a member of the Church of Christ.

Funeral services were held at 4:30p.m. Sunday in the Callaway Memorial
Chapel, with Mr. Bruce James, Church of Christ evangelist, officiating.
Interment was in the Rice Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jay Hobson, Preston Blalock, Keith Hobson, Billy Blalock,
Ney Sheridan and Reginald Hobson.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Sisco of Houston; a
granddaughter; six great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services for Walter Ellisor, 93, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the
Waller Family Chapel.

Rev. R. J. Marshall and Rev. W. H. Collins officiated. Burial was in the
Pleasant Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Ellisor, a resident of Rt. !, Crockett, died Feb. 1 in Houston County
Nursing Home. He was born Oct. 15, 1881, in Houston County and had lived
here all his life. He was a retired farmer and member of the Shady Grove
Baptist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. M. D. Mollitt, Mrs. Jessie Woolley,
Mrs. Claude Woolley, and Mrs. Nollie Woolley, all of Crockett, and Mrs.
Doyle McCelvey of San Marcus.

Also, a sister, Mrs. Grady Dorman of Port Arthur; a daughter-in-;aw, Mrs.
Ellisor of Crockett; 22 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and two
great great grandchildren.

Blaine Ernest Elmore

Blaine Ernest Elmore, 71, of 215 Homewood Drive, Crockett, passed away
early Monday morning following a sudden illness.

Mr. Elmore, was born July 11, 1903 in Alpena, Ark., but had made his home
in Crockett for the past three years. He was a member of the Presbyterian
Church, a member of the Carroll County Masonic Lodge of Carroll County,
Arkansas, a 32 nd degree Mason; a member of the Webb City, Missouri. Ellis
Lodge and was a retired civil engineer with the United State Government
Bureau of Reclamation.

Funeral services were to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Nelson Funeral
Home Chapel in Green Forest, Arl., with Rev. Billy Burris officiating.
Burial will be in the Carrolton Cemetery in Green Forest.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Erma Bea, Elmore of Crockett; two sisters,
Mrs. Claude Phillips of Beryville, Ark., and Mrs. Monroe Bandy of
Greenfield, Calif., and several nieces and nephews.

Rites Held For Emmons Infant

Infant Emmons

Graveside services for the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Emmons
of Rt. 2, Grapeland, were held Wednesday, January 24, at 4:00 p.m. at
Whitehead Cemetery near Grapeland, with the Rev. E. D. Surratt officiating.
Burial was in the Whitehead Cemetery under the direction of Hassell &
Foster.

The infant was born Wednesday at 10:06 a.m. in a Crockett hospital and died
a short time later.

Survivors: parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Emmons, Route 2, Grapeland;
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Emmons of Latexo and Mr. and Mrs. Clifton
Whitehead of Route 2, Grapeland; great grandmother, Mrs. Haut Whitehead
Grapeland; two brothers, William Craig Emmons and Brandon Scott Emmons,
both or Grapeland.

Mrs. Nellie Uina Engle

Mrs. Nellie Uina Engle, 78, (mother of Harold Engle), of 1631 Carlisle St.,
Oklahoma City, Okla., passed away Thursday, Aug. 31, in a local hospital.

Mrs. Engle had lived in Oklahoma City most of her life. She was a member of
the Church of the Nazarene.

Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m. Saturday in the Waller Chapel, with
Rev. E. P. Ramsey officiating. Interment was in the Britton Cemetery in
Oklahoma City.

Survivors include a son, Harold Engle of Crockett; four daughters, Mrs.
Louine Roberts and Mrs. Nadine Cambell, both of Oklahoma City, Mrs. Anna
Mae Cook of Houma, La., and Miss Nellie Ruth Engle of Chicago, Ill.; a
sister, Mrs. Nora Sharp of Norman, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 13 great
grandchildren; also a number of nieces andnephews.

Harold Edward Engle

Funeral services for Harold Edward Engle, 52, were held at 3 p.m. Oct. 10
in the First Baptist Church of Crockett.

Rev. E. P. Ramsey officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen Memorial Park.

Mr. Engle, manager of Knigge Dairy in Crockett, died Oct 8 in Houston
County Hospital as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile
accident.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Jo Engle of Crockett; two sons, Mike
Allen of Dime Box, and Allen Engle of Crockett; three daughters, Mrs. Linda
Webb of Houston, Mrs. Janice Spinks of Crockett, and Mrs . LaEdra Shaw of
Nacogdoches.

Also, four sisters, Mrs. Ann Cook of Houma, La., Miss Ruth engle of
Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Nadine Campbell and Mrs. Loene Roberts, both of
Oklahoma City, Okla.; and eight grandchildren.

He was born June 10, 1922 in Thomas, Okla., and was aa member of the First
Baptist Church of Crockett.

Pallbearers were Truman Martin, Bill Gilchrist, Dale Shroyer, William A.
Turner, George Knigge, and John Buckey.

Joe Denison English

Mr. Joe Denison English, 49, died at his late residence in Trinity, Friday,
following an extended illness. Born in Houston County on April 27, 1913,
Mr. English was a retired employee of the Texas Bus Lines in Houston. He
was a member of the United Pentecostal Church and was a veteran of World
War II, at member of VFW Post 8928 of Houston.

Funeral services were held from the Callaway Memorial Chapel at 3 p.m.
Saturday with Rev. A. L. Fannette and Rev. Leon Wright officiating. Burial
was in Center Grove Cemetery in Trinity.

Pallbearers were Elmer Bitner, Lee Bitner, Willie Grau, Elvis Gates, Jess
Dukes and Claud F. Newsom.

Survivors include the wife, Mrs. Joe English of Nacogdoches; two sons,
Danny and Joe Jr., of Nacogdoches; a daughter, Kethy English of
Nacogdoches; a sister, Mrs. Robert Porter of Trinity; and his mother, Mrs.
Tula English of Trinity.

F. D. (Floyd) English

Mr. F. D. (Floyd) English died Sunday morning, March 1, in Port Arthur.

Mr. English was formerly of Hagerville and the son of the late Aunt Lou
English. He was a Shriner and a deacon of the North End Baptist Church in
Port Arthur.

Funeral services were held at the Nunnley-Stanley Funeral Home in Port
Arthur and the remains were taken overland to Jacksonville for burial.

Survivors include the wife, Reba, and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Georgia Ann English

Mrs. Georgia Ann English, 81, of Kennard, died Friday, May 25, in a Houston
hospital following a short illness.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26, from the Kennard
Baptist Church with the pastor, Rev. Frank Oswald, officiating. Interment
was in the Ivie Cemetery, and pallbearers were Glenn and Carroll Thames,
Claude and R. C. English, George Lane, and Sam Westbrook.

Mrs. English, born on June 19, 1880, in Trinity County, was a member of the
Kennard Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Jim, of Kennard;
two sons, Loyd of Kennard, and Earl of La Porte; two daughters, Mrs. Velva
Taylor of Kennard and Mrs. Mildred Dominy of Houston; two brothers, Carl
Thomas of Crockett and Dave Thomas of Latexo; nine grandchildren; and six
great grandchildren.
