CROCKETT COURIER, Oct. 22, 1897 Isham Cone, an old, widely known and highly respected citizen, died at the hone of his son-in-law, R. E. McConnell, on Monday morning.[ ] Deceased had been in failing health for several months, and his friends and members of his family, had been apprehensive of the outcome of the troubles from which he suffered acutely for several months past. Tender nursing by a devoted wife and the skillful handling of the malady by accomplished physicians strengthened the vital cord and prolonged existence yet a while longer. Mr. Cone was a native of Arkansas and came of an excellent family. He moved to this county soon after the war and for many years was engaged in the mercantile business. He was favored with a large circle of friends to whom he was ever true, and an analysis of his character showed that the trait of sincerity and honesty was pre-eminently prominent. He was a member of the Masonic Order and his remains were put to rest with masonic honors, The funeral ceremonies took place from the residence of R. E. McConnell at 4 P.M., Lovelady Lodge A.R.& A.M. in charge of W. J. Murchison, District Deputy Grand Master, officiating at the ceremonies, being assisted by the local lodge, Lothrop No. 21. The rites were very impressive and beautiful. A large number of the deceased’s friends and acquaintances were present to attest the exalted estimate which they had of their departed friend and brother.
