John Franklin Musick Sr.

John Franklin Musick Sr., a resident of Midland City, AL died late Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 2009, at his home. He was 78. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, 2009, in the Holman-Headland Mortuary chapel with the Revs. Roger Phillips and William Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory, between Headland and Dothan.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary in Headland, AL. At other times, the family will be at the residence, 199 Huey St. in Midland City. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Wiregrass Hospice Inc., P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302.

Mr. Musick was a native of Alto, Texas, but was reared in Porter Springs, Texas, son of the late Kenneth Elbert Musick and Nettie Dora Bowdoin Musick. He lived in Crockett, Texas, before moving to Midland City in 1968. Mr.

Musick was retired from Industrial Chemicals in Dothan, AL as warehouse manager. In earlier years, he was employed by Dolly Madison Industries in Napier Field as transportation manager. While living in Crockett, Texas, Mr. Musick served as the chief of police as well as the exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge. He was a member of Midland City Baptist Church.

Mr. Musick was preceded in death by two sisters, Stella Mae Adams and Emma Faye Chambless.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Berlene Evans Musick, Midland City; three sons, John Franklin Musick Jr. and wife, Jackie Musick, Clayton, Pete Musick, Echo, Mike Musick and wife, Karen Musick, Franklin, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Morgan Musick, Courtney Musick, Kathleen Musick and Lauren Musick; a brother, Arthur Ray Musick and wife, Dorothy Musick, Crockett, Texas; three brothers-in-law, Bobby Adams, LaGrange, Texas, Burtis Evans, Crockett, Texas, Lewis Evans and wife, Patsy Evans, Friday, Texas.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Roland Thompson, Burtis Evans, Ed Baker, Allen Geier, Bobby Adams Jr., Billy Quattlebaum, Murray Dozier and J.R. Riley.
