CHESTER B. (C.B.) SPENCE
C.B. Spence  CHESTER B. (C.B.) SPENCE, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away on Thursday, March 27th in Sugar Land, TX.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester Boykin Spence Sr. and Alice Shaw Spence as well as his infant son Gary Wayne Spence.

He lived a full and loving life and will always be remembered for his quick smile, love of conversation, and his willingness to help a friend or stranger in need.

C. B. was born on April 18th 1926 in Latexo, TX. After graduating from high school he served his county in the US Army where he was stationed in the Phillipine Islands from 1944-46. After returning home from the war he entered college at Sam Houston State Univ. and graduated with a BS degree in Chemistry and a minor in Math. He taught Math at Glover and then Latexo schools for 3 years and later moved to Houston to pursue a career in the chemical industry.

He started working for Shell Oil in Deer Park, then also worked for Olin Corp before retiring with Exxon Mobil in 1989 as a Production Engineer. He had an active church life and was a deacon at South Main Baptist in Pasadena as well as Latexo Baptist Church, upon retirement.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Mrs. Jimmie E. Spence, a son, John Spence of Sugar Land and wife Belinda and his daughter Kristen Turner of Pearland and husband Mike Turner. He is also survived by grand daughters Nicole Turner, Brianna Spence, and Brooke Spence.

Services are set for 1:00 pm Saturday, March 29th at Latexo Baptist Church with burial following at the Latexo Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Silverado Sugar Land for all of their love, care and support over the past two years.
