LEON LUCE

Mr. Leon Luce, age 81 of Grapeland, passed away Thursday, December 25, 2008 in the East Texas Medical Center in Crockett.

Mr. Luce was born May 13, 1927 in Latexo to Bart and Mary Sims Luce. He was self-employed painter and had previously worked for Vulcraft. Mr. Luce was a member of the Union Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Jo Luce, of Grapeland; daughters Myra Musick and husband Barry of Grapeland, Melba Wortham and husband J.W. of Tyler, Kathy Lumbrerez and husband Daniel of Grapeland, Barbara Bowman and husband Ken of Henderson and Debra Rowden and husband John of Grapeland; son Dean Luce and wife Nola of Grapeland; brother Arlon Luce of Grapeland; 18 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents Bart and Mary Sims Luce; sisters Ruby Luce, Loreda Allen and Pauline Kilgore; brothers Barney Luce, Alton Luce and Robert Fowler.

Funeral Services for Me Leon Luce were held Monday, December 29, 2008 1:00 pm at Union Chapel Baptist Church with Bro. Roy Bowman and Bro. Gary Luker officiating.

Interment followed In McCarty Cemetery.

Pallbearers were his grandsons; Marcus Musick, Eric Wortham, Jason Wortham, Justin Lumbrerez, Nicholas Lumbrerez, Derek Bowman and Jeremy Rowden.
