Veiva Caskey Services for Veiva Caskey, 93, of Grapeland will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the Bailey & Foster Chapel with Bro. Tommy Caskey officiating. Burial will be in Guiceland Cemetery under the direction of Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine. Mrs. Caskey died Wednesday, April 4, 2007 in a Tyler hospital. She was born Oct. 3, 1913 at Anderson County to Lawson Carl Franklin and Jettie Miriam Hodges. Mrs. Caskey was a member of Sand Flat Baptist Church. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. She was a dedicated school teacher and taught first grade at Kirbyville, Elkhart and Grapeland. Mrs. Caskey retired from Grapeland Independent School District. She was a passionate gardener. Mrs. Caskey was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Louis Caskey; daughter, Bobbie Lou Springer; sisters, Lula Nation Garrison and Florine McIver; and brothers, Lewis Franklin, Francis Franklin and Kenneth Franklin. She is survived by daughter, Wynice Whitaker of Grapeland; son, Carl Caskey and wife Wincie of Tyler; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great- grandchildren. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Condolence calls will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Bailey & Foster Funeral Home, Palestine.
