MILLIGAN CEMETERY DEDICATION HELD

Public awareness that Milligan Cemetery is designated  June 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. with the presentation of a Texas Cemetery medallion and plaque. The presentation was a part of the annual Milligan Cemetery Homecoming. Over 100  persons attended. The cemetery is located 1.7 miles north of the caution light in midtown Latexo, then east on CR 1825 for 2.1. miles.

 

With the designation, Milligan Cemetery is recognized as being at least 50 years old or more. Also, a certificate of designation for cemetery purposes has been filed with the Houston County Clerk.

 

Mrs. Pollie Jones Daniel was chairman of the cemetery marker committee and participated in the Saturday program. Other participants included Keith Goolsby who welcomed the attendance, introduced guests and read the text on the plaque.

 

Buster Patton who gave the invocation followed by pledges the United States and Texas flag.  Mike Goolsby and J.D. Graham led the pledge to the flag.

 

G.W. Marshall and Raymond Boykin, Jr. uncovered the cemetery medallion and plaque.  Hughie Gray game the closing benediction.  Guests and homecomers joined in sharing lunch and conversation.
