Lone Star - Tyer Cemetery - Houston County, TX

LONE STAR - TYER CEMETERY

This cemetery is located about six miles southeast of Grapeland, off Lockout Road (FM-2423) to right on dirt road. J. N. Tyer gave the plot as a family and community burial ground also for a church known as Lone Star. He also permitted the Lone Star School to be built next to the Baptist Church.

Our first cemetery surveyors were Jane Revel Franklin and Ruth Revel 5-25-75. In December 1977, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Tyer gave additional information, pointing out that the cemetery deed is recorded in Houston County Deed Records, Book 101, page 503, dtd. Aug. 22, 1921.
