Guiceland Cemetery is located approximately 6 miles north of Grapeland on the Houston-Anderson County line road. There are many stories concerning the donation of the original grounds for the cemetery and the first burials there. However, there are no known records which would verify anyone of these. There have been several additions made to the original grounds throughout the history of this cemetery, including two made recently. The first, approximately one acre located on the north side (across the Houston/Anderson County line road) was purchased by Guiceland Cemetery from Travis and Tommy Mosely. The second, also about one acre, was donated by the Monroe Weisinger heirs and lies on the west end of the cemetery.

Guiceland is one of the larger cemeteries in Houston County. There are approximately 780 marked grave sites and a vast number of graves which have remained unmarked or marked only by native stones.

Mrs. Madge (Bean) Dauphin surveyed the cemetery for the first two editions of Cemeteries. The most recent survey was conducted by Greg and Barbara (Weisinger) Brown and Sherry Weisinger.
