FRANKLIN CEMETERY later called PUNTCH CEMETERY - WECHES

Off SH21 in Weches Community about 21 miles NE of Crockett. Near site of old Franklin Church and school a short distance from present Weches.  Last dated marker is 1889.

Is known locally as Puntch Cemetery, probably because Dr. Puntch once owned the land but is not buried here.

Cemetery on private property behind locked gate - not accessible to public.

Landowners Gus, Jr., and Beth Kleinschmidt gave permission for us to visit the cemetery. They respect and try to protect the old cemetery. Mr. Kleinschmidt assisted Commission members Howard and Hazel Moore in the survey, March, 1985. Submitted by Hazel Moore, Rt. 2, Grapeland, Texas 75844.
