ELISHA CLAPP (also known as Old Lansford)

Founding fathers of Houston County are buried in this Family plot which is located a quarter mile between SH21 and Porter Springs off FM-2967 in a private pasture, kept locked. Admission to the burial area can be secured at this time, if a descendant of families buried there. The area is unfenced, now heavily wooded, and is often overrun by cows which are pastured there.

Pioneer Elisha Clapp was recognized during the Centennial with a pink granite shaft which points to his service as an early settler and Indian fighter. He and his son-in-law John Henderson are buried there along with numerous grandchildren of John Henderson, Jr. and members of the Lansford family William Edison Rikard initially reported the cemetery, verified for the 1978 edition. Eliza Bishop has checked the area during the past year through inquiries from Clapp descendants wishing to fence the burial grounds. George Lansford enumerated for the current publication.
