STANTON CEMETERY

The Stanton Cemetery Association, founded in 1975, owns and is responsible for maintaining the cemetery.

Entrance to the Marietta Ranch, the Stanton Cemetery is located down this private road and is in a private pasture.  We obtained permission from the owner of the ranch before entering.

Located 5 miles E. on Hwy. 7 from Crockett, on the previous Dr. Prince farm; now Marietta Ranch, about half mile offf highway.  Cemetery plot set aside by William Stanton for his family, slaves, relatives and neighbors.

Donald L. Bennett took pictures of all the headstones he could reach.  The cemetery is very overgrown with large timber growth, vines, etc. until parts can not be walked through.  The fence is down in a section on the south side, and on the north and east side it is mostly down with cattle trails throughout the cemetery area.
