OLD ALABAMA, JACOB ALLBRIGHT OR CHANDLER

This family burial ground is located west of Porter Springs on FM-132, about 7 miles from entrance of one-time Potter Farm-Ranch, near the site of Alabama Ferry, now identified with an official Texas Centennial Limestone Marker.

The grave of Jacob Allbright, considered the founder of Old Alabama and the ferry at the Trinity River point, is said to be within sight of his home which was near the entrance of the present farm-ranch.

The cemetery, originally old Alabama, is identified as Chandler Cemetery. Many graves are located in the burial grounds but few are marked. A sister of Fred and Jeff McDonald was probably one of last burials.

William E. Rikard did the original survey and updated for the current one.  Wadell Jennings Harrison sent in additions having secured the information from her parents Wade and Mona Jennings. The cemetery is difficult to find.
