OLD McCANN CEMETERY

Located one-half mile west of the old Navarro Road, near the banks of Houston County Lake. Enclosed by a new metal fence.
Few headstones are left; some graves are marked by native stones; one un-named plot has a tall well-preserved wooden fence around it.

1968 copy by Ava Bush, Ray and Jane Nicolaides. 1977 by Mrs. Wayne Kaltwasser; 1985 additions and update by Ava Pennington Bush.

It is believed that the last person to be buried here was John Henry McCann, killed when a horse threw him. He was the husband of Maggie Sharp (1869-1935). She is buried in an unmarked grave in Glenwood Cemetery.

Bird children buried here in unmarked graves. Mr. Bird was buried here, but his niece had his body moved, later, to his former
hometown in a northern state.
