William Branch Worthington was born 22 FEB 1848 in Arkansas, and died 7 JAN 1941 in Crockett, Houston Co, Texas; buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.   He was the son of Doctor George Washington Worthington, born in VA September 10, 1812, died 1872 and Augusta Ann Ford born 6 OCT 1812, died 26 FEB 1892, buried in the Antioch Cemetery, Lovelady, Houston Co., TX.

MRS. A.A. WORTHINGTON - died 1892

Mrs. A. A. Worthington, widow of G. W. Worthington, died at her son's, W. B. Worthington, on Nevel's Prairie, February 26, 1892, and her remains were laid to rest awaiting the great resurrection morn.

She was born in East Tennessee October 6,1811, where she married in the year 1830 and came with her husband to Richmond, Missouri. Here they were broken up by the Mormons, who threatened to kill them because they would not join them. They did burn their house and destroy all their property and forced them to go back to Tennessee.

Afterwards, they came to Arkansas and in 1863 came to Texas and settled in Trinity County. Her husband died in 1872 and she came to Houston County with her children where she lived until her death.

Siblings of William Branch Worthington were:  Martha Magdalene, John Montgomery, Amanda Missouri, Fredrick Thomas, Nancy Everlace, Mary Elisabeth, James Munroe (twin to William Branch), and Laura Melissa.

 

He married Dorothy Vaughn "Dolly" Thompson 13 NOV 1879, daughter of Judge Samuel Morris Thompson and Caroline Ruth Tunstall. She was born 21 APR 1855 in Texas, and died 20 JUN 1948 in Crockett, Houston Co, Texas; buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.

Mary Eleanor "Ellie" Worthington was born 25 SEP 1883, and died 7 AUG 1898 of Typhoid Fever.  She is buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.

She married James Shepherd Shivers 15 JUN 1904. He was born 20 AUG 1873, and died 27 OCT 1926 in Dallas Co, Texas; buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.

Dorothy Ellen Shivers was born 8 DEC 1905; died 25 JUN 2002; last residence Sylvania, Lucas Co., OH (Social Security Card issued 1963 Michigan).  She married Arthur Myron Clendenin 15 JUN 1930.  He was born 19 FEB 1905, died 09 Mar 1980; buried in Evergreen Memorial Park, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.

Augusta Ione Shivers was born 10 APR 1908, and died 6 JAN 1994 in Houston, Harris Co, Texas; buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park, Crockett, Houston Co., TX. She married Robert Lee Thomas 5 MAR 1933.

Mary Eleanor Shivers was born 30 NOV 1910; died 27 MAY 1993; DAR and DRT member; buried Evergreen Memorial Park, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.  She married Travis Winston Waller.  He was born 30 SEP 1921, died 16 FEB 1997, buried Evergreen Memorial Park, Crockett, Houston Co., TX.

George Morris Worthington (William Branch Worthington1) was born 27 SEP 1885. He married Clara Bowman 14 OCT 1909, daughter of Dr. Bowman of Uvalde, TX.   Both are buried in Grapevine, TX.
