There was a
Fever Epidemic in Houston County when the children
of Margaret (Williamson) Johnson were small.
She died and her husband was unable to care for the
children. They were placed in the care of
relatives. Laura Johnson was placed with a
family by the surname of Cagle. Lee and Albert
Johnson were placed in the home of uncle and aunt,
John and Nancy (Williamson) Smith. Another
uncle, Doc Williamson furnished money for the care
of the children. Later, Richard Johnson
remarried and had another family of children.
His 3 children by Margaret did not want to leave the
families that had been raising them, so they never
returned to live with their father.
