County, Mississippi, and died 24 Oct 1925 in Austin, Travis County, Texas,
buried in Livelyville Cemetery, Grapeland, Houston County, Texas.
Eli Townsend Steadman entered military service (Civil War) on June 9, 1861.
Company G, Texas Regiment, Hood Brigade in Lee's Army. Assigned to the
infantry, Regular army. Listed as six feet three inches tall, fair
complexion, grey eyes, twenty years old. He was a gunsmith when enlisted. He
was wounded on the last day of the "7 Day Battle" just below Richmond,
Virginia. He was discharged September 29, 1862. Information from confederate
